Is there or was there an EGR valve on the motor ? Have you had the distributor out ?

TIMING
All initial timing is set from TDC and the only bullet proof way to determine TDC is with a piston stop .. Summit has them for about $8.00 .. The thread size will be the same as your spark plugs ..

1) Remove one end of the coil wire
2) Remove #1 plug
3) Place your finger over the #1 spark plug hole and have someone rotate the crank shaft until you begin to feel the compression trying to blow your finger away from the hole .. The rotation of the crankshaft will be easiest with all spark plugs removed .. your call
4) Thread in the piston stop
5) gently rotate the crank shaft until the piston hits the piston stop
5) make a distinct mark on the harmonic balancer at this point
6) rotate the crank shaft now in the opposite direction until you are stopped by the piston stop
7) mark the harmonic balancer again at this point
8) TDC will be the center point between these two marks scribe this point well .. All future timing will be set from that mark
9) remove the stop and reinstall the spark plug/plugs and reconnect the wire/wires
10) rotate the crank to your 8° BTDC if that's where it is supposed to be
11) take off the distributor cap and determine if the rotor is pointing at the #1 contact on the distributor cap .. If it is then your good .. If not go to the next step
12) take out the distributor hold down bolt and clamp
13) carefully pull the distributor up far enough that the rotor now spins freely and being careful not to dislodge the oil pump shaft ..
14) Now rotate the rotor so it points to #1 after distributor is reinserted .. This may take a few tries to get it right ..
15) Once you have it put the Hold down clamp and bolt back in place
16) Reconnect your coil wire
17) Now you can start the motor and check timing with the vacuum line to the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged ..

Note : If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission the idle rpms should be set with it in gear and brake on ..

Flüssigkeiten und Füllmengen

Automatikgetriebe = ATF "Type F" - erhältlich in jedem gut sortierten US-Teile-Shop und bei einigen wenigen Ölhändlern im Internet.
Ford M2C33F: Valvoline, MobilOil (US Speed Shop HH www.usspeed.de). Volumen 12,5 US quarts = 11,7 Liter.

Servolenkung = Originalspec war ESW-M2C128A. Dies wurde ein paar Jahre später für alle (auch vorher gebaute) Fahrzeuge durch ESW-M2C128C bzw ESW-M2C128D ersetzt. Diese Ford-Spezifikation sollte also auf dem Öl draufstehen. ATF Type F soll auch gehen. (US Speed Shop HH www.usspeed.del).

Motoröl = 20W-50 nur für Motoren mit erhöhtem Ölverbrauch. Ansonsten reicht in unseren Breiten ein gutes 10W-40. Wer sich vollsynthetisches Öl zutraut kann bis 0W-40 gehen. (Raiffeisen Landhandel www.vrmoelln.de/raiffeisen_moelln/Oel.html)

Differenzial = ESW-M2C105B für Standardhinterachse (kein Limited Slip). Dies entspricht API-GL6. Diese Norm wurde zurückgezogen, passendes Öl -> "exceeds (übertrifft) API GL-5". Viskositätsklasse: Je höher die Zahlen, desto zäher - wie beim Motoröl. Sehr zähes Öl erhöht aber auch die Temperaturen im Diff. Das 9" Diff. ist als außerordentlich robust bekannt. Daher gibt es außer notorischen Undichtigkeiten kaum Probleme damit.

Bremsflüssigkeit: DOT 3

Kühlflüssigkeit (nicht rot) 19,5 US quarts = 18,25 Liter. Also Frostschutz 1:1 9 Liter (6 Flaschen), 1:2 6 Lite (4 Flaschen)r, 1:3 4 Liter (2 2/3 Flaschen).

Automatikölwechsel, 12,5 qts = 11,7 Liter

Das Öl wird gewechselt, indem man die Ölwanne entfernt. Erst langsam an einer Ecke und dann die Wanne abnehmen und ausgießen. Am besten in Literkannen abfüllen, um zu sehen, wie viel drin war. Auf Abrieb, Verfärbungen und ungewöhnlichen Geruch achten. Der Drehmomentwandler hat eine eigene Ablaßschraube. Das Neubefüllen mit Öl bedarf etwas Geduld. Man muß zunächst die Nennfüllmenge Type F einfüllen und dann den Motor laufen lassen bis keine Luft mehr im Wandler ist und die Pumpe gleichmäßig Öl pumpt. Der Kraftschluss ist nicht immer gleich vorhanden. Dann immer nur langsam Öl nachkippen bis der Ölstand stimmt (warmes Getriebe). Der Filter sollte immer mit gewechselt werden. Auf peinlichste Sauberkeit achten. Schon die kleinste Fluse von einem falschen Lappen oder ein Schmutzteilchen können dem Getriebe Schaden zufügen.

The carburetor top (bowl cover) has a tendency to warp, change that to is warped, at the accelerator pump and leaks fuel. When you remove the top be sure to save the top gasket and cut out the section between the two front screws on a long taper, then when you are reinstalling the top insert the piece of gastket material on top of the new gasket to get a good seal, or you will have a leak. (Double gasket between the screws) Also mix some epoxy and seal all the well plugs and the plug at the front top of the carb near the fuel filter. If that plug comes out, which it might after a soak in carb cleaner, the fuel blows out on the distributor which results in a major fire. I've seen it too many times. Good carb. There are rebuilding instructions in the kit also. There are no special tricks to the rebuild. Just set it up by the instructions in the kit. It never hurts to set the floats about 1/32 of an inch higher than spec.

Kühler mit integriertem Automatikölkühler

Ein langes Leiden. Der fehlende (!) Kühler wurde durch einen ReadyRad RR433390 ersetzt, gekauft in USA bei www.carpartswholesale.com. Das Ding soll mit ATF adapters geliefert werden, wird aber nicht. Und so passen die Anschlussrohre der ATF nicht an den ATF-Kühler. Lösung: Adapter von einem alten Kühler nehmen.

Scheinwerfer

Hella H4-Lampe für Auf- und Abblendlicht plus Hella Fernscheinwerfer als zweite Lampe. Es passt! Für den Fernscheinwerfer musste ich die Abdeckkappe (Kunststoff) mit der Flex kürzen, damit sie trotz Halterung noch drauf geht. Links gibt es wegen der Abblendautomatik Schwierigkeiten mit der Kappe, sie muss modifiziert werden.
Die defekten Kunststoffmuttern für die Scheinwerferjustierschrauben konnte ich durch Fischerdübel M10 ersetzen...

Hier noch mal schnell ein Tip für runde Scheinwerfer.
www.limora.de hat eine recht große Auswahl dieser Scheinwerfertypen. Natürlich mit E-Zeichen und zu recht günstigen Preisen. Hab doch gerade vor einigen Tagen bestellt. Super Service auch am Telefon und einen Tag später war das Paket schon da. Hier der direkte Link zu den Scheinwerfern
